The feeding of the Christian soldier comes, in the spiritual sense, from both the public and the private study of God’s Word. The former comes through the ministry of the church, the preaching and teaching of the Word. The latter comes through the individual believer’s devotional time in the Word of God. . . . Both are preventive, preservative, and restorative in their purposes and effects.
