I'm happy to announced the release of my latest book, Legislating for the Confederacy: The Confederate Congress.
To understand fully the history of both the war and the Confederacy itself, one must study and understand the civilian government of the South as well as its military. That includes not only the formalities of government but also the personalities and character of the individuals who made up the Confederate Congress. That is precisely what this book seeks to do.
Although the book follows close on the heels of another of my books, Dillon's War, it wasn't written in a day. It has been in the works for more than two years--actually longer considering the amount of time spent doing research and the interruptions to work on other writing projects, including Dillon's War.
Special thanks go to my daughter Stacy Connor for designing the cover and helping with many other aspects of the book.
I hope you'll consider this book if you have any interest in understanding the workings of the civilian government of the Confederacy. And keep in mind relatives and friends who might be interested in it. After all, Christmas is just around the corner!
