So You Think It Can’t Happen Here?

Do you think that it can’t happen here? Novelist Sinclair Lewis addressed that thinking in his 1930s novel It Can’t Happen Here. An article at the following link gives food for thought about that very attitude today:

Although Lewis’s thinking at the time concerned the aspirations of Louisiana’s U.S. senator and former governor Huey Long, his arguments fit very well the situation in which we find ourselves today. Think our republic is too strong, that we’re too protected by our Constitution to fall to totalitarianism? If so, you might want to read the article linked above and think again!
